The Zebra is an all-terrain fat-tire electric bike that focuses on off-road riding performance.

The bike is built around a durable and beefy 6061 aluminum frame, with a suspension fork with a lockout and preload adjustment.

As for the electric components, Zebra features the 750W brushless geared rear hub motor, which the brand uses on most of its e-bikes.

It can develop 86Nm of torque, helping you reach a max speed of up to 28 mph with PAS and throttle.

The biggest highlight of this bike is the huge 960Wh battery that’s fully integrated within the bike’s down tube. It takes around 7 hours to charge it fully and will most likely offer you the longest range compared to other fat-tire e-bikes in this price range - around 60 miles.

While you can ride the Zebra on light and moderate trails and dirt and gravel roads, you can also use it for commuting around town. This electric bike can do it all, and you can alter its grip and maneuverability by playing around with the tire pressure.

Regarding the Zebra's braking system, the bike boasts Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm rotors. These brakes provide plenty of stopping power and perform excellently compared to mechanical disc brakes.

There are certain negatives to this e-bike, such as the rather small stock gear ratio, the understeer, and the gear ratio. This can be easily fixed by buying a new chain and a larger chain ring, thus solving any spinning-out issues.

Nevertheless, the Zebra's adventurous feel comes mainly because of the wide 26x4-inch Kenda tires. With huge air volume for added cushion and a knobby tread pattern for extra traction, these tires can easily handle off-road rides.

If you love riding during the night, you’ll appreciate the bright headlight that will help you see as well as be seen. The Zebra is also available with step-over and step-through frame designs.

Get the Zebra if you’re looking for an e-bike with a fantastic range, a durable frame, and amazing off-roading capabilities.

So far, the Cruiser is the most popular e-bike ever produced by Himiway. This is the electric bike that helped the company assemble an army of fans that swear by its products.

The 6061 alloy frame of this model comes in two designs: the standard frame and the step-thru option. Both of these weigh the same, but the step-thru design features water bottle cage bolts, whereas the standard one doesn’t.

Apart from that and the lower standover height of the step-thru model, these bikes are almost identical.

Powering the Cruiser is a 750W brushless rear hub motor with noticeable power and speed capabilities. This motor will enable you to hold high average speeds on hills and some off-road trails.

When it comes to the bike’s speed, it’s very fast for a fat tire electric bike. You can reach the Cruiser’s top speed of 26 mph on straight roads without any issues. And because of its fat tires, you will also feel stable on the bike at higher speeds.

One tiny problem with the motor is that there is a slight delay in pedal assistance - there is a one-second motor lag when you start pedaling. While this isn’t a big deal, it is something to keep in mind if you decide to get the Cruiser.

The 48V 17.5Ah battery has 840Wh of capacity, and the company promises between 45 and 60 miles of range per full charge, which is close to what the owners report.

As a fat-tire electric bike, the Cruiser comes with versatile 26x4-inch tires, which are pretty standard on similar bikes in this category. Another interesting fact about these tires is that they have a reflective strip along their edges, which adds extra security during night rides.

The Cruiser also sports a Shimano 7-speed gear shift system and a Shimano Altus Derailleur. These two pair up very nicely and offer a crisp feeling while shifting. The gear range on this bike is also rather good for speed and hill climbs.

The braking system featured on the Cruiser is the pair of mechanical disc brakes with 180mm rotors which offer a decent and stable braking potential overall. However, the hydraulic disc brakes are a must for the Cruiser’s sheer mass and power since they are more reliable.

This e-bike is often the go-to option for commuters and multi-purpose riders since it comes with handy accessories, including a bright headlight, rear rack with a wooden deck, kickstand, and a stunning 350 lbs total payload.

If you aren’t particularly keen on cycling and getting to your work drenched in sweat, you should consider a moped-style electric bike such as Himiway Escape Pro.

This compact and stylish e-bike lets you escape the harsh reality of city life, including traffic jams and stressful commutes.

The e-bike’s frame is made of 6061 aluminum alloy and comes with an integrated battery pack design. The internal cable routing inside the bike makes for a sleek-looking e-bike overall.

The Escape Pro comes with a powerful 750W motor and a 672Wh battery, giving you a 22 mph top speed and 30-40 miles of range per full charge. You can use the five pedal assist levels or throttle based on the terrain type and your needs.

The Escape Pro will let you feel its power when accelerating. When you pedal at maximum assist level, you won’t have issues holding the average top speed of 22 mph.

The most interesting feature of this e-bike are its front and rear suspension forks, which absorb vibrations and negate shocks, making this bike very useful if you take it for an off-road ride.

The Escape Pro uses 20 x 4.0-inch Kenda tires that add extra comfort and extra suspension, and they are easy to corner and allow you to take the bike on some light trails.

As for the brakes, the Escape Pro comes equipped with the Tektro Aries mechanical disc brakes with 180mm rotors, giving you good stopping power.

The Escape Pro is both a great commuter e-bike and a recreational e-bike. Its unique frame design and capable motor provide a range of possibilities regarding how you decide to ride.

Keep in mind that the Escape Pro comes with a fixed seat, and the negative of it is that you can’t adjust it. So, if you’re average height, you’ll probably find pedaling can be rather uncomfortable.

The Escape Pro is a rather heavy electric bike. Additionally, due to the bike’s design, it’s uncomfortable to lift and carry it. So, if you have to carry the bike up the stairs, think twice about whether the Escape Pro is for you.

Nevertheless, this moped-style e-bike is a great choice to consider if you’re looking for an e-bike that will help you overcome the issues of city commuting.

The Cobra is one of the most capable e-bikes in Himiway's lineup. This is a full-suspension electric mountain bike with super fat tires and fantastic electronics.

The feature that sets this electric mountain bike apart from other models is the full-suspension design which absorbs vibrations, keeping the rear wheel on the ground regardless of how bumpy the trail is. In addition, the 80mm front coil fork serves to improve your riding comfort and increase the bike’s overall stability.

The Cobra shares the same components as the Zebra, including a 750W geared hub motor and a 960Wh battery. With components like these, you can conquer all sorts of terrains and ride up to 60 miles per full charge.

The Cobra has five pedal assist levels and a throttle set to Class 3 settings. This means the motor will allow you to reach speeds of up to 28 mph while pedaling, whereas the throttle alone will power the bike up to 20 mph.

This mountain e-bike takes off-roading to the next level with the 7-speed drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and its super fat 26x4.8-inch tires. These tires will offer you a great cushy feeling on all terrain types. These fat tires also feature a great level of off-road threads so that you can take this bike for more extreme rides without issues.

If you love the outdoors or enjoy riding on rough forest trails, the Cobra is a perfect choice. Also, it’s worth noting that the bike is available in camo and dark gray colorways so that you can blend in with your environment.

At 88 lbs with a tall standover height and long wheelbase, Cobra is a very large electric bike, meaning it’s meant for taller riders. In addition, While the Cobra comes with hydraulic disk brakes, we would love to see the quad-piston hydraulic brakes on this bike due to its size.

Furthermore, if you’re looking for an e-bike that will take your off-road riding experience to a new level, check out the Cobra Pro. This model features a 1000W mid-drive motor, distinct in the company’s lineup. Boasting an impressive 160 Nm of torque, this bike will climb any hill, even when fully loaded.

Similar to the standard Cobra model, the Cobra Pro also has front and rear suspension that will make short work of rocks, bumps, roots, and other obstacles you encounter on your off-road adventures.

The Cobra Pro also comes with a 10-speed Shimano drivetrain, making it much easier to climb hills and will help you extend the range by pedaling more efficiently.

Himiway Big Dog is a cargo e-bike which doesn’t feature a long-tail design that we associate with standard cargo bikes.

Big Dog has a huge integrated rear rack that gives it a 400 lbs carrying capacity.

You can equip this e-bike with different rear rack options, although you’ll have to purchase them separately.

Powering the Big Dog is a powerful 750W brushless gear hub motor that will allow you to reach high average speeds commuting around the town, climb hills, and ride through the sand.

As for the Big Dog’s speed, it’s pretty fast for a cargo electric bike. You can easily reach the max speed of 25 mph on straight roads. And due to its fat tires, you’ll feel stability while the Big Dog.

This cargo e-bike features a 48V 20Ah Samsung/LG lithium battery that is integrated right into the frame, making the bike look very stylish. Some people might not even realize it’s an electric bicycle by looking at it until you ride off effortlessly.

While the advertised range of this electric bike is around 80 miles, the average rider can ride for around 60 miles on a full charge. This range is still a lot, especially for an e-bike that you will use for commuting around town.

The 20″ x 4″ tires featured on the Big Dog will make it easier to lift heavy cargo onto the rear rack. The rest of the components included in this cargo e-bike is a 7-speed drivetrain, and mechanical disc brakes - both of these are common choices on other Himiway bikes.

While the mechanical disc brakes will provide decent stopping power, we believe that hydraulic disc brakes are a must on cargo electric bikes such as this one since they are more reliable.

Also, you should note that the Big Dog is an electric bike for shorter riders starting at around 5 feet tall - if you are over 6 feet tall, you might not enjoy riding the Big Dog.

When it comes to accessories, the Big Dog has bright headlights, a dual-leg kickstand, and a suspension fork. Commuters looking for comfort and practicality will definitely appreciate all of these.

So, if you’re looking for a fat-tire cargo e-bike that’s capable of climbing hills, conquering nearly any type of terrain, and carrying all of your load, then the Big Dog might be the perfect choice for you.

FAQ

Who Is Himiway?

Himiway is a popular electric bike producer that has recently swept the e-bike market by storm. The company specializes in creating fat-tire e-bikes suitable for commuting and for recreational riding on flat roads and off-road trails.

The brand itself was established by Mike Magaruh in 2017. After traveling around the world, experiencing the biking culture, and learning about the local electric bike producers, Mike decided to partner with a couple of them to create budget-friendly e-bikes that will serve as a great alternative to cars.

The company’s first model, the Cruiser, was pretty much a knock-off of Rad Power Bikes’s RadRover. But, the brand has come a long way and today provides seven distinct e-bike models, each one bringing something new to the table.

Moreover, Himiway is based in China, with a warehouse in California and an office in a business park in Vancouver. While all of its e-bikes are manufactured in China, they are shipped to customers out of a warehouse in the USA, which results in fast shipping.

Himiway is a direct-to-consumer company, meaning its business model lowers the prices of the products by eliminating retailers from the sale chain. This is a pretty popular approach that brands in the electric biking world are taking more and more.

According to Himiway's official website, their e-bikes are inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s (American novelist, short-story writer, and journalist) simplistic approach to life. The appearance of Himiway’s e-bikes is streamlined and rugged and is meant to inspire riders to explore their surroundings and spend more time riding in nature.

The Himiway also boasts innovative battery technology in the form of quaternary polymer lithium batteries, significantly extending the range of its bikes.

Who Are Himiway E-Bikes For?

While shopping for an e-bike, you might ask yourself:

“Who is this e-bike for?”

Well, Himiway’s lineup of electric bikes is intended for riders on a budget. Some of Himiway’s bikes are perfect for daily commuting in urban areas and serve well as utility e-bikes, while others are meant for more extreme off-roading.

However, just because these bikes have lower price tags compared to their competitors, it doesn’t mean they’re bad. Himiway electric bikes are well-designed.

Apart from their design and build, Himiway bikes also come with excellent good motors. Each Himiway e-bike has an electric motor that will offer you more than enough power for your daily commuting around the town and for off-road rides.

What Kind Of Motors Do Himiway E-Bikes Have?

The most crucial component of an electric bicycle is the motor, and even though Himiway is focused on manufacturing and offering affordable e-bikes, their motors are amazing. The motors found on their bikes will offer you the power to conquer any hill, achieve great speeds, and ride on some light and moderate trails.

Each of Himiway’s bikes boasts a 750W motor, except for the Cobra Pro, which has a stunning 1000W motor.

What’s The Battery Like On Himiway E-Bikes?

Himiway electric bikes feature batteries that range from 17.5Ah to 20Ah - the higher the battery’s capacity, the longer the range of the e-bike.  In addition, every model has an integrated battery pack except for the Cruiser.

What’s The Range Of Himiway E-Bikes?

All electric bike models in the Himiway lineup have a range of between 45 to 60 miles. However, keep in mind that the battery range is based on a variety of factors - what pedal assist level you are using, the type of terrain, your weight, etc.

How Much Do Himiway E-Bikes Cost?

As mentioned, Himiway focuses on designing and manufacturing affordable electric bikes.

With that being said, here are the prices of Himiway electric bikes at the time of this writing:

  • Himiway Zebra: $2,000.

  • Himiway Cruiser: $1,600.

  • Himiway Escape Pro: $1,800.

  • Himiway Cobra: $2,400.

  • Himiway Big Dog: $2,000.

While this may seem expensive for some, remember that the prices for e-bikes range from $1000 to $5000 - and even more. So when you consider Himiway’s motors, batteries, and overall design, Himiway electric bikes are a bargain.

Should I Get A Himiway Bike?

While Himiway manufactures affordable electric bikes, that doesn’t mean they are bad. As a matter of fact, Himiway is definitely a good choice if you're looking for well-built electric bikes.

So, should you get a Himiway electric bike, or should you skip this brand? The answer is: Yes.

Himiway is a good electric bike company with a great track record and thousands of e-bikes sold worldwide. As stated, the brand makes budget-friendly e-bikes with fantastic accessories, powerful electronics, and attractive looks while also providing great customer service, according to customer reviews available online.

Final Words

Man and the fat tire bike

More and more affordable electric bike brands have started to appear on the market over the last few years. Nevertheless, Himiway stands the test of time and continues to be among the most popular brands out there when it comes to budget-friendly e-bikes that offer a lot of value.

While Himiway e-bikes have room for improvement, it’s hard to take it against them when you take into consideration the affordable price tags. The overall weight of their bikes could be lower, and some of the mechanical components could be of better quality, but that’s not a priority for the company.

Himiway’s main goal is to get as many ordinary people as possible out of cars and onto electric bicycles, and we would say that mission has been an absolute success so far.

So, if you want to join the green revolution, we would definitely recommend giving some of Himiway’s e-bikes a try. You can use them to transform your daily commute or add some fun to your recreational riding.
