The Himiway Cruiser is an e-bike that carries massive 4-inch-wide tires and front suspension making it a city commuter with off-road capabilities.

The fat tire electric bikes are fun to ride and have a lot of features that provide good comfort and stability. These bikes can do well as city commuters and off-road cruisers as well.

The thick tires featured on these e-bikes offer a good grip on nearly all terrains and provide shock absorption even on the bumpiest trails.

Now, since fat tire electric bikes are starting to gain more and more popularity, getting one that fits your need and your budget can be a bit difficult.

One great example in this category of e-bikes is the Himiway Cruiser.

This is a powerful all-terrain fat tire electric bike that you can ride through all sorts of terrains, including snow and sand, while also effortlessly climbing hills.

Priced at $1,600, I believe the Himiway Cruiser offers a lot of value - be prepared to get a powerful electric bike that takes off quickly and is fast.

If you want a budget-friendly yet powerful fat tire e-bike that you can ride on all sorts of terrains, then the Cruiser is an excellent option to look at.

Especially if you consider the fact that the bike comes in two different frame options to pick from.

In this e- bike review, I will discuss Himiway's inexpensive fat-tire electric bike and hopefully help you in your e-bike purchase.

But, before I go any further, let’s have a look at the Cruiser’s specs:

Frame

Himiway Cruiser Frame

The 6061 alloy frame of the Cruiser comes in two different designs: the standard frame, and the step-thru frame.

Both frame designs weigh the same, but the step-thru option features water bottle cage bolts while the standard one doesn’t.

Apart from that, as well as the lower standover height of the step-thru variant, these electric bikes are almost identical.

Both frame designs feel sturdy, just as I would hope for on such a big and powerful electric bike.

Overall, the company does a good job producing their bikes' frames. Although I have to add one nit-picky critique - I would love to see them make the welds between contact points a bit less noticeable.

Motor

Cruiser Motor

Powering this electric bike is a 750W brushless rear hub motor that has very apparent power and speed capabilities.

This motor will allow you to hold high average speeds on hills and through the sand.

This is worth mentioning since these are two areas where certain electric bikes struggle to maintain their speed.

This motor's power will enable you to trudge through deep sand and climb up hills, no matter how steep, with ease.

The engagement of the bike’s engine may take you by surprise at first, so be sure you start in PAS level 1 and then go up from there.

You should remember that there is a slight delay in pedal assistance - there is approximately a one-second motor lag when you start pedaling.

One of the most predominant features of the Cruiser is the incredible acceleration that this bike is capable of.

No matter if you use the throttle or pedal assist, the sheer power of the bike’s motor is apparent.

When it comes to the Cruiser’s speed, it’s very fast for a fat tire e-bike. You can easily reach the top speed of 26 mph on straight roads. And due to the fat tires, you will also feel extremely stable on the Cruiser at those speeds.

Drivetrain

Himiway Cruiser Motor

The Cruiser has a  Shimano 7-speed gear shift system and a Shimano Altus Derailleur.

The shifter and derailleur pair up very nicely, and when you shift, they offer a crisp feeling.

The gear range on the Cruiser is rather good for hill climbs and speed in general.

The 7-gear range is more than enough for this fat tire e-bike; with how fast the Cruiser can go, you will rarely be in gears 1-3.

Nevertheless, it’s still nice to have the lower gears for when you get tired or the trail gets steep.

The Shimano 7 Speed setup featured on the Cruiser is the perfect groupset for the job.

One more advantage of this drivetrain is the fact Shimano makes it; because of this, your local bike shop will know how to tune the drivetrain if required and will most likely have replacement components in stock.

Battery

When it comes to brakes, the Cruiser is equipped with mechanical disc brakes with 180mm rotors and a stable braking potential.

A thing to add is that the brakes featured on the Cruiser are somewhat on the low side compared with other e-bikes in this range.

So, if you’re planning to ride this e-bike at high speeds,  it’s crucial to check the brakes daily and ensure they are well maintained.

The main reason you should do this is that the e-bikes are generally heavy - a heavy bike cruising at higher speeds will certainly wear through the brakes much quicker in the long run.

So, for its sheer size and power, I would prefer the Cruiser to have hydraulic disc brakes.

Tires

Himiway Cruiser Tires

The tires found on the Cruiser are the key components that make this bike an exclusive all-terrain electric bike.

The Kenda Krusades 26x4-inch  tires are very good for off-road rides and commuting around the town. These tires will give you a fantastic cushy feeling on nearly all terrain types due to the added volume.

These tires also have a great level of off-road threads, making off-road riding easier.

Another interesting element of these tires is that they feature a reflective strip along their edges, adding a bit of security during the night rides.

Post-Test Summary: Himiway Cruiser Pros And Cons

With how powerful and quick the Cruiser is, this bike gave me a new perspective on fat tire electric bikes. The Cruiser has a great motor and battery life and can easily tackle some off-road terrains and steep hills.

What I Like About The Himiway Cruiser

The 26 x 4-inch Kenda Krusades tires featured on the Cruiser will make you feel like you are riding on a magic carpet, even on off-road rides.

Along with the tires, the Cruiser has a powerful 750W motor that will help you climb the steepest hill and go pretty fast, reaching the top speed of 26mph.

Combine that with great battery life, and you get an amazing all-terrain fat tire e-bike that is also affordable.

PROS

  • Powerful 750W motor
  • The 48V 17.5Ah battery provides plenty of range
  • The fat tires smoothly roll over any type of surface
  • Affordable price point

What I Don’t Like About The Himiway Cruiser

No e-bike is perfect, and I believe that hydraulic disc brakes are a must on fat tire electric bikes.

So, while the mechanical disc brakes work well, the hydraulic disc brakes are necessary for the Cruiser’s sheer power and mass, as they are more reliable.

The main benefit of mechanical disc brakes is that they are generally easier to tune and maintain, but I don’t feel that outweighs the performance of hydraulic disc brakes.

Another complaint I have about the Cruiser is that it has a one-second lag of the motor when you start pedaling.

While this isn’t a big deal, it is something you should keep in mind.

Cons

  • Lower quality disk brakes
  • Slight delay in pedal assistance after you start pedaling

Advice To Customers

Personally, I would love to see some upgrades in the braking system, but the Cruiser’s components will perform well.

This is a fat tire e-bike that anyone looking to do more than ride around the town will find great satisfaction in riding.

Conclusion

The Himiway Cruiser is an e-bike that has great value to it. Sure, there are less expensive electric bikes available on the market, and there are more feature-rich e-bikes too.

However, the hallmark of value is the awareness that the bike performs to expectation without being pricier than necessary.

The Cruiser costs only $1600, making it an extremely affordable e-bike, especially when considering the quality of some of its components, such as the motor, battery, and tires.

So, if you’re looking for an all-terrain electric bike capable of conquering almost all types of terrains and comes at a low price tag, the Himiway Cruiser might be just for you.
